what?! is that true? *rushes off to check the celebrity gossip for the day
Not as bad as some have said... but it is sad.http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080305/film_nm/swayze_dc_7
sounds like a rumor anytime the source is The National Enquirer, I tend to wait for confirmation.http://www.stuff.co.nz/4428214a5620.html
his publicist confirmed it he may only have a few weeks left :(
No, sounds like a tumour.
Pancreatic has a very low cure rate. Michael Landon died of it. There's a few others, but I can't think of them off hand. Horrible, horrible.
True Unfortunately pancreatic cancer is one of those that just sneaks up on you. By the time you start to feel bad and seek medical treatment it's just too late to do anything. My mother was given three months to live and only lasted two. It was so hard for her to accept the inevitable. So sad...
oh, that is so sad. I loved him in Dirty Dancing. That movie always makes me feel 17 again - all that crazy hormonal yearning...
Oh no! How sad :(
Article on CNN, quoted from People http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20182300,00.html
Its not confirmed. Dont spread rumors, thanks.
a statement was issued UPDATE: His rep issued this statement to TMZ, "Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. Patrick's physician Dr. George Fisher states, 'Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.' Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."
It's been confirmed
Neg away Earlier all that came up was stuff from gossip rags.I will say this, Not everyone who has cancer got it strictly because they didnt "Eat Healthy".My mother died from Brain Cancer, her brother from Pancreatic Cancer, and her 2 other brothers from Lung cancer and a Nephew from Brain Cancer...If anyone told me "Well they should have eaten healthier" i'd punch them in the nose.Sometimes people are pre disposed to certain illness due to genes and just bad luck...Lifestyle plays a big role in a lot of illnesses, but dont assume everyone who has or had an illness got it purely from lifestyle.Diet and lifestyle doesnt make one immortal.
very sorry about your family. maybe the OP was just trying to tie the news flash into a difo theme to seem relevant.
It IS confirmed
how is this motivation to eat healthy Swayze was a professional dancer and stayed in excellent shape his entire life. Now I am not saying.....don't eat healthy....but cancer or a bus...can hit any of us at any time.Sometimes there is no reason.
youre right. there are things that can destroy our health besides food/diet. but i think even people who are obsessed with health can still be unhealthy. a lot of body builders and fitness models, etc consume too much protein, artificial supplements, etc. maybe patrick swayze had a bad sugar habit or consumed too much dairy. maybe he wasn't getting enough omega 3's...he could have also been malnourished. sometimes starving is just as bad as overeating. you know?
not saying there is a connection to cancer, but Swayze himself admitted he abused alcohol on and off over the years. He went to rehab for it.
That is to bad I'm sorry to hear that I loved RH
For what it is worth, pancreatic cancer is tied to a familial tendency to get diabetes or cigarette smoking. There are other factors, but I don't know that eating healthy is a major factor.I lost a dear aunt to pancreatic cancer twenty odd years ago. She didn't get any symptoms till it was too late. But these days they are better at catching it earlier, as they seem to have done with Swayze, and there are more treatments. People are surviving pancreatic cancer. It is just useful to know that if smoking and diabetes are in your family tree, you may be at greater risk.
It is individual. Pavaroti had it several years before he died. Even with all his other health issues, he was lucky enough to last awhile. But I think that is the exception.Like others have said. First, it's a very fast moving cancer. And, usually, by the time you are diagnosed it has advanced too much to cure.
And then Steve Jobs had it, got rid of it, and because of that we have Iphones and touch pad Ipods. Well, I am being silly here, but he really did survive it. I think Swayze is going to the same place that Jobs went to for care.
How sad. I used to be madly in love with him back in the 80's.
